Fresh Start Checking

A Summit FCU Fresh Start checking account is here to help if you have had past mistakes with a prior checking account.  Past checking account issues may result as a record on ChexSystems.  All checking account requests are processed through ChexSystems for review. A Summit FCU Fresh Start checking account requires the applicant to complete the CheckRight online course as well as show proof that any collections to other financial institutions have been paid.  Other details include:

  • $5 monthly service charge
  • No overdrafts
  • Debit Card is available at account opening
  • No prior loss to Summit FCU permitted

An active Fresh Start checking can be evaluated as long as it has remained in good standings during the prior 12 month period. The account could then be converted to one of the other Summit FCU checking account options. The account will only be evaluated upon member request.

Joint Fresh Start Checking

A Summit FCU Joint Fresh Start checking account is offered as a no-cost option for someone who has a joint account holder that does successfully pass our CheckSystems requirements.  The account holder that is showing a record on ChexSystems, will still need to complete the CheckRight online course referenced above as well as show proof that any collections owed to another institution have been paid. Other details include:

  • No overdrafts
  • Debit Card is available at account opening
  • No prior loss to Summit FCU permitted

An active Joint Fresh Start checking can be evaluated as long as it has remained in good standings during the prior 12 month period. The account could then be converted to one of the other Summit FCU checking account options. The account will only be evaluated upon member request.

 

Once you’ve selected your checking account, it's time to become a Summit Federal member, if you haven’t already done so. Simply open a Share (savings) Account with a minimum deposit of $5.00 when you open your new checking account.

Benefits are not available to a “signer” on the account who is not an account owner or to businesses, clubs, trusts, organizations and/or churches and their members, or schools and their employees/students. Family includes: Spouse, persons qualifying as domestic partner, and children under 25 years of age and parent(s) of the account holder who are residents of the same household.
